PennDOT I-95

IEW Construction Group was responsible for bridge rehabilitation activities for eighteen (18) structures and bridge preservation activities for ten (10) structures along I-95 in Philadelphia, Bucks and Delaware Counties. Construction included replacement of rocker bearings that are out-of-tolerance; replacement of frozen sliding plate bearings; and replacement of leaking deck expansion joints, steel beam cleaning and painting, substructure concrete repairs, reconstruction of bearing pedestals, and beam end repairs (in general, locations that have frozen bearings due to leaking deck joints also exhibit spalled bearing pedestals and substructures as well as spalled (for P/S beams) or corroded (for steel girders) beam ends. Long term lane shifts were employed in order to perform the jacking and replacement of the diaphragms, pedestals and bearings. Coordination with Conrail and the train schedule was carefully managed for construction activities flanking train tracks running underneath the elevated highway.
