Hurricane Sandy Route 36 Sea Bright Repairs

From Long Branch to Sandy Hook, Hurricane Sandy surged over the rock retaining walls, displacing 6’ of beach sand onto Route 36, rendering it impassable and trapping the residents in the homes lining the roadway. Under an NJDOT maintenance contract, IEW Construction Group portioned and sifted the sand from the storm debris, hoisted it over the wall and then broadcasted back on to the beach. The road was cleaned and opened to traffic in 7 days.
